No matter what happens in the world, no matter what happens around me, near or far, my God is the strength of my salvation and the hope of my righteousness. He is everlastingly loving, forgiving, and kind, and will always draw me to himself. He wants me...and I want him. Every day my hunger for him is growing. Sometimes I feel small, lonely, insignificant, and helpless, but my God has equipped me with every good gift, and everything I need for godliness and life abundant.
He is the fulfillment of my heart, and the light of my eyes. In him I am a radiant bride, a mighty soldier, and a righteous child of God. Wow...I serve a beautiful God! He who makes the unlovely lovely by his own beauty.
This doesn't have a lot to do with our trip to Ecuador but I just wanted to post about our God and to dwell for a moment on his glory. I can go so far from home, but he is my mighty protector...he is everything, my All in All!
The place between places...
What is "El lugar"?
In Genesis 28, Jacob was fleeing the familiar and heading toward a series of tests which God had prepared for him. After a dream in the night, Jacob declared, "Surely the LORD is in this place!" In Spanish, "El lugar entre de los lugares" means, "The place between places." Each of us is in a place between places...we are neither where we were (without the Lord), nor where we will be (in His presence). This blog is a record of how God is working in the place where He has us, and we hope that you will share in the joy of what He is doing!

Who are we?
We - Natalie Mawhinney, Rebecca Henry, Ashley MacKay, Amy Magnuson, Suzanne Glass, and Emily Mawhinney - will be living in Ecuador for (varying lengths of time within) three months beginning in January 2010. We will be serving in a christian home for abandoned children called The Ark Children's Homes. We will all be posting to this blog throughout our time of preparation and while we are living in Ecuador. We want to share with you what God is doing in our lives! We hope that you will join us in prayer, and we will keep you updated on what is happening.
