We arrived peacefully, safely, and happily in Quito at 11:16 pm last night! The entire day went smoothly, all of our luggage arrived, customs agents were friendly, and we are really and truly standing on Ecuadorean soil!

We are heading out for Riobamba, and we will let you know when we are settled. We will be driving through the Andes mountains, so there will be some excellent scenery to enjoy. =) We have a 30+ passenger bus for the trip! We are starting to learn that you never really know exactly what is going to happen!

The place between places...
What is "El lugar"?
In Genesis 28, Jacob was fleeing the familiar and heading toward a series of tests which God had prepared for him. After a dream in the night, Jacob declared, "Surely the LORD is in this place!" In Spanish, "El lugar entre de los lugares" means, "The place between places." Each of us is in a place between places...we are neither where we were (without the Lord), nor where we will be (in His presence). This blog is a record of how God is working in the place where He has us, and we hope that you will share in the joy of what He is doing!

Who are we?
We - Natalie Mawhinney, Rebecca Henry, Ashley MacKay, Amy Magnuson, Suzanne Glass, and Emily Mawhinney - will be living in Ecuador for (varying lengths of time within) three months beginning in January 2010. We will be serving in a christian home for abandoned children called The Ark Children's Homes. We will all be posting to this blog throughout our time of preparation and while we are living in Ecuador. We want to share with you what God is doing in our lives! We hope that you will join us in prayer, and we will keep you updated on what is happening.
