Poetry

I feel like writing poetry. Poetry about my God, about wind, and beauty and things that soar far above the rocks and waves. When you go out into the ocean where the waves break they can be so strong as to knock you off your feet and carry you hither and yon. But there is a point, just beyond the breaker, where your feet can still touch the sand and the waves just lift you gently up and down.

Its lots of fun to be where the waves are breaking and to stand against their spray. It is a challenging place to be and it takes lots of strength to stand against them or to jump with them so that they carry you instead of crush you. After a while you get tired and then you can go beyond the breaker and just float in the gentle swell of the ocean and rest.

Life is like the ocean. You can have experiences on both sides of the breaker in just one day, or one hour. Something can make you laugh and then the next moment you want to cry. Life is like the ocean but God is the force that holds it all together. Like the tide He is the predictable source of control and stability. He brings it in and He brings it out. He gives and He takes away. While the swells grow to crashing waves He is guiding their direction. Even the waves obey Him.
