Only one week?
Next Tuesday, March 30, Natalie, Ashley, Rebecca, and I are leaving Riobamba and traveling to Quito. We plan to stay in Quito for three days and our flight departs at 11:35 pm on April 2nd.
We have had some solemn discussions recently as we have begun to process the reality that we've been here 71 days and we have only 7 left. So much good - learning, interactions, relationships - has happened! We are so grateful to the Lord for His incredible faithfulness and grace as we have walked through our time and activities here. Although these positive aspects help us to have a correct perspective for returning home, we are realizing how difficult it will be to bid farewell to the people here that we have come to dearly love.
The past several days have afforded several opportunities for me to observe the children from outside the group. I see such incredible potential in their lives! I see a difference in many of them because of the impact that our team has had. From babies who are happy, laughing, and eagerly seeking our attention, to older children who run in the house after school to tell us about their morning, it is obvious that we have impacted their lives just as they have touched ours.
As much as we are looking forward to seeing our families again and catching up with life in the States, there will be nothing easy about the goodbyes we must say next Tuesday.
Would you pray for us during this last week? Please pray that we will finish well and use every moment to its capacity for the glory of God. Our great desire is to leave the children with a great deal of love, but without the emotional trauma that easily accompanies goodbyes.
Thank you for your continued investment in our lives through prayer. We are grateful to each of you for caring!
"He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him - not for my earning it, but] for His name's sake." Psalm 23:3
